Twenty-seven people attended a tour for the Huron Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The objective was to learn about the current trends in library design, issues of safety in library planning, green principals, selecting a Construction Manager, budget concerns and fundraising, site complexities, code specific lessons learned regarding circular stairs, and high tech gadgetry for today’s library. Dan Whisler, principal with Daniels and Zermack, led the discussion for 1 ¼ Continuing Education Units for the registered architects.

The Belleville Area District Library is nearing completion of the first phase of construction. It will open to the public in the first quarter of 2020. The existing library gets demolished after this state-of-the-art facility officially opens. With six weeks to go, it was a prime time to host an educational tour for the Chapter.
