Size: 15,978 sq. ft.

This building is a contemporary architectural showpiece as well as an inspirational project for sustainable construction.  The project site was heavily wooded with ash trees which needed to be removed due to damage from the Emerald Ash Borer infestation.  The wood from these trees was incorporated into the project as structural columns and wood planks which form a curved ceiling, remeniscent of a ship’s hull.  The trees were removed from the site using horses in order to avoid destroying the landscape with the heavy machinery which is typically used for this type of work.  Parking is located underneath the library in order to minimize the project’s footprint.
